| Distributed Printing |

Distributed printing is when an electronic data file containing information for printing a document, is transmitted via a fast communication line such as ISDN or FTP, to printing companies in multiple regions simultaneously.

The benefit of this is that international shipping costs can be eliminated
and documents can be delivered to the client on the same/next day.

Generally, the local firms will be using ‘digital printing technologies’ to effect this. These technologies differ from traditional processes in that they are specifically suited to printing smaller quantities.

These digital presses are akin to the colour laser found in offices throughout the world but are much faster, have the capability to print both sides of a sheet of paper (up to A3) and have the ability to ‘finish’ the product in-line i.e. staple and fold ready to send to the client.
